Branch Information - Fact Sheet
The Borders Branch covers the geographical area that includes Galashiels, Melrose, St Boswells, Selkirk, Kelso, Jedburgh and Hawick. The Branch is run entirely by volunteers. We currently have 124 members, 84 of whom have MS.
WHAT DO WE DO
We offer information support and advice.
Respite care breaks.
Assistance with transportation.
Social outings and information events.
Assistance with aids and adaptations where appropriate.
Reflexology and physiotherapy.
Awareness and fund raising.
We also work closely with NHS Borders and the Social Work Department.
One of our goals is to have an MS Specialist in the Borders.
HOW DO WE SPEND FUNDS RAISED LOCALLY
We provide up to 70 weeks respite every year.
We hold regular social and information events.
We provide equipment when it is not available from the statutory authorities.
We are currently funding a 3 year project of physiotherapy and reflexology services for people with MS at a cost of £22,000 per year.
