A Shining Star for Rhona
Borders Branch Member and former racehorse trainer Rhona Elliot has been awarded a Shining Star from the MS Society, their highest acolade
for volunteers, for her work in raising money and awareness of MS through the MS Racing Club. The racing syndicate was set up in 2004 and over
the past 5 years Rhona has raised over £40,000 for the Borders Branch. Rhona said it was a great honour to receive the award and hoped it would
encourage people to join the MS Society's Borders branch and the racing club.
Two other members of the branch also received Volunteer Appreciation Certificates; Shaun Campbell has volunteered with the branch for many years
and can usually be found quietly working away in the background carrying out a multitude of tasks, always with a smile and a kind word. Dorothy Heddle
knits continuously all year round for the branch fund raisers and has raised thousands of pounds for the branch selling her knitted goods. Dorothy
would be happy to receive donations of wool and buttons to assist her to continue. Many thanks to our dedicated volunteers.
