Scarvagh Diamond [stable name, Zara]
We first met Zara when we went to visit the Scarvagh Stud in Northern Ireland back in June 2005. They were kind enough to let us choose from a couple of mares and it seems we've made a good choice.
So far she has done everything that has been asked of her and its almost as if she has done it all before. She is a complete professional, athletic and intelligent but with a very determined streak.
Zara won her first ever bumper race at Newcastle on 18th January 2006. She is now in training with Nicky Richards in Cumbria. Race results below..

'SCARVAGH DIAMOND and Truckers Lady had this to themselves from a long way out and, in a battle royal, the former just had the edge when it mattered. The winner is plenty game enough and, although her trainer is not altogether happy with the overall form of his horses at present, he was satisfied with this effort'. Photo Gallery here..
5th December 2007:
Scarvagh Diamond ran at Ayr in a Novice Chase (class 3) over 2 miles on heavy ground (and in the worst weather imaginable) with Tony Dobbin onboard. A very testing race between the four horses (Scarvagh Diamond, Endless Power, Supply & Fix and Jungleland) and Zara finished in 1st place. From the Racing Post "
There was little between the four runners coming off the turn and with the drop back in trip on this ground not posing any problem to SCARVAGH DIAMOND she kept on gamely on the run-in. She jumped well, her fall at Uttoxeter first time over fences wasa blip and there are more races to be won with her." Photo Gallery here..
17th November 2007:

17th February 2007:
Scarvagh Diamond ran at Haydock in a novices hurdle race, 2m 7f, with Brian Harding in the saddle. Zara won best turned out in the parade ring but unfortunately was pulled up near the end of the race.
6th January 2007:
Scarvagh Diamond ran at Haydock in a mares only 'national hunt' novices hurdle race, 2m 4f, with Tony Dobbin in the saddle, finishing 1st! Gallery here.. From the Racing Post ' Another race run well above standard, with the tempo only increasing leaving the back straight. SCARVAGH DIAMOND , a bumper winner last season, is a progressive performer over hurdles and looked the part here as she scampered away in the closing stages to win largely unchallenged. This ground seems to suit her well and she is likely to go on to better things, given similar ground'. Winning jockey Tony Dobbin said: "She is a very talented filly. She stays forever, but she wants soft ground."
